Letters to My Children: Jackson

JacksonJanuary2014_45

Dear Jackson,

I cannot believe how fast the years have flown by. It seems like it was just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with you! What an amazing surprise that was. Daddy freaked out a little bit at first, and then he convinced himself you were a girl because he really, really wanted you to be a boy but wouldn’t admit it. I was so excited I couldn’t contain myself! Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be a mommy, and you made that dream come true for me. You made me a mommy and forever changed me for the better.

You are the most enthusiastic, most emotional , most adventurous, most stubborn little boy I have ever met. In a lot of ways, you are just like me. I think that’s why I get so frustrated with you sometimes. I love how much you love to learn. You soak up new information like a sponge, and you especially love learning about animals. You are so smart and love to figure out how things work and why things are the way they are. I fear that in a few years you will be smarter than I am!

You are such a good, loving big brother to your siblings. I know you will always be there to protect and guide them. Just remember, they look up to you so you need to be a good example. Carter follows you around everywhere and wants to do everything you do. I know he can be annoying sometimes, but be patient and kind to him and he will become your best friend. Hayley lights up when you give her attention. You are always asking to hold her, giving her kisses and hugs, and telling me you want to protect her. I hope you continue to be a protective big brother to her.

I want you to know how much I love you. I know sometimes, I get impatient and yell at you. Just know that even in those moments, I love you more than anything. I can’t imagine our family without you in it. You make me laugh everyday with the funny things you come up with, and I love seeing how your little mind works to figure out the big world around you. I can’t wait to see you grow into an amazing man and see what you do with your life. I know you will do amazing things–just don’t grow up too fast!

I love you little buddy.

Love,
Mommy
